About the university: Established in 1962, ESSUTM is located in the capital of the Republic of Buryatia, Ulan-Ude, about 100 kilometres from the Lake Baikal, the largest freshwater lake in the world. The university is one of the leading educational and scientific centres in Eastern Siberia, offering education, re-training and the enhancement of professional skills, including in the area of economics and law. It has a branch in the capital of Mongolia, Ulan Bator, and cooperation agreements with a number of universities in Europe, America and Asia.
Courses offered: The faculties of Economics and of Law offer undergraduate and graduate programmes in public administration (with specializations in municipal management, and in public policies at the country level) and in law, as well as undergraduate programmes in international economics, trade policy, and customs operations, and a PhD programme in economic theory.
Areas of expertise: The faculties of Economics and of Law undertake research on areas such as integration of Russian regions into APEC markets, strategy of economic and social development of the Republic of Buryatia, economic evaluation of national wealth at the meso level, environmental and economic analysis of the Baikal region's national parks, alternative dispute resolution, comparative law, migration issues in international law, or contemporary Chinese and Mongolian law.
