Senegal's Institut Universitaire de l'Entreprise et du Développement (ED) joined the Virtual Institute today, becoming the second member in Senegal and the 125th member worldwide.

 
Membership procedures were initiated through colleagues at Vi core Senegalese member,Université Cheikh Anta Diop.
 
Founded in 2014, ED's mission is to contribute to economic development of Senegal by diversifying the offer of university education programmes in the country. 
ED prepares experts for a variety of careers in the private sector, non-governmental and international organizations, in the areas of enterprise management and management of development. Its educational approach is based on a combination of academic knowledge and field experience consisting of in-company internships, field visits and case studies. An enterprise incubator is also available to help students develop the necessary entrepreneurial and leadership competencies, and provide personalized coaching. The courses are delivered by academics and practitioners specialized in the different fields of study. 
 
ED's academic offer includes undergraduate and graduate programmes in areas such as trade policy, export strategy and economic diplomacy; NGO management and design of development projects; econometrics and applied statistics; banks, finance and insurance; hotel and tourism management; or arts management.
 
Among ED^s main research areas are trade policy formulation, regional economic integration, common currency and the development of trade relations, and non-tariff measures and their impact on trade.
 
The cooperation between IUED and the Vi will be coordinated by Malick Sané.. Holder of a PhD in economics, he is responsible for the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in trade policy, export strategy and economic diplomacy. His research areas cover international trade, international economic environment, African economies, environmental economics, and foreign direct investment.
 
Sané will receive support from colleagues, Ibrahima Thione Diop, Academic Director of the institute, Aly Mbaye, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and associate professors Fatou Gueye Lefèvre and Marème Ndoye.
 
The institute is prepared to contribute to the development of Vi teaching materials and joint research, student and staff exchange, and organization of activities of joint interest with the members. They expect that Vi membership will help them further strengthen their capacities, as well as increase the visibility of the institute.
