About the university: Founded in 1849, the Universidad de la República is a major institution of higher education and research located in Montevideo, Uruguay.

In 1988, the university created the Center of Research and Postgraduate Studies in Social Sciences (CEIPOS), which in 1991 was incorporated to the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The Department of Economics of the faculty of Social Sciences offers diploma programmes in Economy for Non-Economists and in Economy and Bank Management. It also offers a Masters in International Economy and a Doctorate in Economy.


Areas of expertise:  Research areas of the Center of Research and Postgraduate Studies in Social Sciences (CEIPOS) include: international trade, econometrics, labor economics, productive internationalization and enterprise strategies, macroeconomics and finance, industrial organization, economic regulation and topics related to microeconomics.

The university's Trade and Multilateralism Network (NT-T&M)  was created in August, 2008 to coordinate the university's work on multilateralism topics, which are researched and included in Academic Programs in at least three of UdelaR´s faculties:
