About the university: The University of Botswana was established in 1982 as the first institution of higher education in Botswana. The university has four campuses: two in the capital city, Gaborone, one in Francistown, and another in Maun. The university is divided into seven faculties: Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities, Science, Social Sciences and the School of Graduate Studies. Its 2,658 academic staff members teach a student body of 15,484.

The Department of Economics offers a BA in Economics and an MA in Economics conducted in the framework of the Collaborative MA Programme of the African Economic Research Consortium, as well as an MA in Applied Economics. The department also runs MPhil and PhD programmes in economics.
