About the university: The University of Jyväskylä is a multidisciplinary research university, and a specialist, among others, in human sciences education. Areas of expertise: The Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics (JSBE) has specialized expertise in environmental and social issues connected to business and was the first business school in Scandinavia to offer English-language Master's and PhD programmes in Corporate Environmental Management. Research at JSBE focuses on the behaviour of individuals, business and organizations and their functions as part of the society, with thrust on policy-relevant and managerial-relevant issues. JSBE's research groups cover Corporate Environmental Management, International Macro and Finance, and Entrepreneurship and International Business. The Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy (DSSF) of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which specializes in research on social, political and cultural transformation, is one of the leaders in the area of social sciences in the country. Its main research areas include sustainability and social transformation, and transformation of welfare policies and practices.
Courses offered: JSBE offers a full range of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programmes. Several graduate programmes, such as the Master's in International Business and Entrepreneurship - are taught in English. DSSF offers international Master's programmes in Development and International Cooperation, and in Cultural Policy, and an interdisciplinary module titled Living with Globalization. Among the disciplines taught at the DSSF are political science, public policy, and gender studies.
