About the university: The Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz was founded on November 4th, 1981. It is a private non-profit higher education institution with autonomy in the academic and administrative spheres. It is dedicated to the teaching, pursuit, preservation and dissemination of cultural and scientific knowledge. Its main purpose is to find valid ways and procedures to contribute to the solution of some of the nation’s problems.

Areas of expertise: There is a research group on local development, structural transformation and competitiveness that develops research in these areas, and there are three ongoing research projects:

  • Knowledge and Innovation Systems in Exporting SMEs in the food and textile/clothing/design/fashion sectors

  • Impacts of Trade liberalization on uneven development in microrregions: a Sustainable Development Perspective

  • Minimum Tariff Protection in Colombia: Construction of an Indicator
