About the university: Stolypin Volga Region Institute of Administration (SVRIA) is a federal public establishment of higher education located in Saratov, Russia. Founded in 1991 by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, SVRIA has six faculties with 500 academic staff members, and provides training, professional development, and advising service to a student body of 6,500.
The Department of Economics, part of the Faculty of Economics and Management, conducts research in the following areas:development of rural/underdeveloped regions in Russia; cross-border cooperation of regions in Russia and Kazakhstan as a way of enhancing integration into the Eurasian space; strategy for economic and social development of the Saratov region; public-private partnerships; and Russian trade policy in the context of the WTO accession.

Courses offered: SVRI offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in various areas of economics, management, political science and public administration. The Department of Economics offers a Bachelor's degree in with specialization in municipal management, a Master's with specialization in regional economics, and a specialist programme in Customs operations. The Department of Secondary Vocational Education offers specialist diplomas in Management, Jurisprudence and Economics. The programmes comprise courses on international and regional economics, international economic relations, history of economic thought, trade policy, economics of customs operations, management of international trade operations, international trade agreements, international financial relations, free economic zones, and external economic relations of the Russian Federation.
