Established in 1993, the Centre for Policy Dialogue's objective is to contribute to the emergence of an inclusive society in Bangladesh which is based on equity, justice, fairness and good governance. To this end, CPD strives to service the growing demand of the civil society of Bangladesh for a demand-driven and accountable development process by stimulating informed debate, generating knowledge, and influencing policymaking through research, dialogue, dissemination and policy advocacy.
CPD aims to enhance national capacity for economy-wide policy analyses, foster regional cooperation in poverty alleviation, trade, investment, transport and other key areas and addresses issues which concern Bangladesh's effective integration into the process of globalisation.
CPD's target groups are diverse and include both policymakers as well as those for whom policies are designed in the first place, the major stakeholder groups. Thus, CPD seeks to involve all important cross-sections of the society including public representatives across political spectrum, government officials, business leaders, representatives of grassroots organisations including NGOs and trade unions, academics, development partners and other relevant interest groups.
