The Kiel Institute, founded in 1914, is an international center dedicated to research on global economic issues, economic policy consulting and education. Its main objective is to find solutions to topical questions regarding the world economy. The Kiel Institute’s staff comprises over 60 economists who advise decision-makers in the government, business and civil society sectors. Research activities are organized in the following seven areas:
The Forecasting Centre of the Kiel Institute produces regular macroeconomic forecasts for the world economy and Germany in particular. Through the organization of workshops and participation in conferences and policy networks, the institution strengthens its advisory function in economic policy-making.
The Kiel Institute is engaged in economic education, offering an advanced studies programme, PhD courses, and support for junior researchers.
