Vi's partner, the UNCTAD/WTO International Tade Centre (ITC), is making its online market analysis tools available free of charge to developing and transition-economies countries. The initiative is funded by ITC’s Global Trust Fund and the World Bank.
"I confirm the usefulness of these tools," writes Tanzania's Vi member coordinator, Francis Matambalya, who is using them in his research at the Nordic Africa Institute.
The tools available are:
Trade Map, which provides statistics on international trade flows for more than 220 countries and territories and 5300 products on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
Market Access Map, which provides data on the tariff rates and other market access measures of 185 importing countries to products from 238 countries and territories. Most favoured nation (MFN) and preferential applied import tariff rates are shown for products at the most detailed national tariff line level.
Investment Map, which provides statistics on inward and outward foreign direct investment. Data include flows and stocks, covering goods and services for about 90 economies. The tool also presents information on more than 56,000 foreign affiliates located in developing countries and economies in transition.
Product Map, a trade information portal at sector level, providing export-oriented information for sectors of interest to developing countries.
