The Faculty of International Economics and Management of the Vadym Hetman Kiev National Economic University became Vi's 16th member after final approval of its membership application this Monday.
The Faculty of International Economics and Management, with approximately 2700 students, provides undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in a large gamut of themes in international trade, and runs a PhD programme in World Economy and International Economic Relations. The main areas of research currently are competitiveness of the country in the globalized world economy, and resources and models for economic development.
In true Vi spirit, our new member has already established a fruitful relationship with another Vi member, the Centre for Trade Policy and Law (CTPL) in Ottawa, Canada. Their efforts resulted in the establishment of the Center for International Trade Development in Kiev, which has so far trained more than 500 international trade specialists though distance learning, organized various series of conferences, workshops and seminars, and in 2003 launched the first Master's Programme in International trade in Ukraine.
The university, founded in 1992, a year after the declaration of Ukraine’s independence, would like to share its experience in building international economics training programs from the Bachelor to the PhD level, and foresees to cooperate with other members by exchanging new ideas and course outlines; collaborating on course development and course delivery, undertaking joint research; and organizing workshops, round tables and other events.
