altFundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz (FUKL) of Bogotá has been admitted to the Vi, enlarging the Colombian network to 14 universities.

 FUKL, a private non-profit higher education institution created in 1981, offers a Bachelor's degree in international business management.

The university also maintains a research group on local development, structural transformation and competitiveness, currently working on research projects related to: knowledge and innovation systems in exporting SMEs in the food and textile/clothing industry; the impact of trade liberalization on development of micro-regions from the sustainable development perspective; and the construction of a minimum tariff protection indicator for Colombia.
Academic research is published in a journal titled "Suma de Negocios."
FUKL's participation in the Virtual Institute will be coordinated by Ricardo Buitrago Rubiano, Dean of the School of Business. His specialization is in globalization, trade, regional integration and development/poverty.
Hugo Ernesto Díaz Sánchez, whose research interest lies in the area of competitiveness, globalization and trade, will also be involved in the cooperation with the Virtual Institute.
The university is interested in collaborating in course and training material development, student and staff exchange and joint research projects on issues related to sustainable development, structural transformation, fair trade, competitiveness, entrepreneurship and SMEs.
