The second Vi members meeting, which took place in October, provided an opportunity for the network to meet face-to-face to discuss the future work plan of the Virtual Institute, to build professional relationships with each other and to participate in discussions on a number of trade topics.
13 of the 15 Vi university members attended the meeting over five days in Geneva. The members reviewed and agreed upon proposed training material on regional trade agreements, the transfer of technology and trade data analysis as well as plans to localise existing and proposed training material. EAFIT University in Colombia has recently submitted a proposal to localise the Vi material on the Economic and Legal Aspects of Investment Agreements by adding a chapter on Colombian regluatory provisions, the domestic impact of IIAs and translating the chapter into Spanish.
Members also discussed and agreed upon proposals for a number of joint research projects and for the further dissemination and promotion of the Vi's work in their university, and more widely in other institutions in their country.
