The third edition of the Virtual Institute online course on Non-Tariff Measures and data collection, scheduled for July 10 to August 27, admitted 117 participants from 57 countries. The 2017 class was selected from a pool of 316 applicants representing academia, government and trade practitioners in 77 countries.
Developed by the Vi and the Trade Information Section of UNCTAD's Division on International Trade in Goods and Services and Commodities, the course will provide participants with the knowledge and tools needed to identify, classify and collect information about national NTMs, as part of the international effort to improve access and increase transparency with regard to these measures.
Top graduates will become part of the UNCTAD NTM consultancy roster, and may be considered for future data collection or related work.
Thanks to support from the Government of Finland, all selected participants received scholarships covering tuition and fees, as well as course materials and online tutoring.
