A partnership with academia

Building knowledge for trade and development

To enhance the skills of individual researchers at Vi member institutions and facilitate their access to experts and resources available at UNCTAD and other international organizations, the Vi offers fellowships to academics from developing and transition countries, either on a sponsored or self-funded basis.

The fellows come to Geneva to work on concrete teaching or research projects of priority interest to their countries, and benefit from mentoring and coaching from UNCTAD and other Geneva-based experts, as well as from access to libraries and information resources at UNCTAD and Vi partner organizations.

As with all Vi activities, results of the fellowships are systematically shared with Geneva-based country representatives to facilitate use of the research findings in policymaking or to secure support for the projects developed.
